Are you achieving your full business potential? If not, perhaps you could benefit from a mentor.
The Mentor Partners program is a joint initiative between the City of Kingston and City of Glen Eira. The program helps to create and retain businesses and jobs by providing, without charge, volunteer business mentor support and guidance to small business operators throughout the Cities of Kingston and Glen Eira.
Mentor Partners aims to:
Businesses in Kingston that have been in operation for at least 12 months and are not a franchise are welcome to join this successful program.
Why is Council supporting a mentor program?
The extremely high failure rate of small businesses is of real concern to the broader community. Business failure happens particularly within the first few years of operation. The stress on business operators and staff is immense and this has a natural flow through to the rest of the community, creating financial hardship and human burden.
Mentors
Mentors are successful business people, many of whom are retired and who, without financial or other reward, volunteer their time, knowledge and practical expertise to help existing small businesses.
Business mentors are not consultants or advisers; rather they provide guidance, opinions, a shoulder to lean on and act as a sounding board. Their opinions are unbiased and without preconception and are based on many years of successful business experience. By participating in the program, business mentors seek continuing challenges by using their years of business experience to contribute to the economic and social fabric of their community.
Clients
Businesses based in the Cities of Kingston or Glen Eira which have been in operation for at least 12 months and are not a franchise are eligible to seek mentoring assistance through the Mentor Partners program.
