The City of Kingston’s business breakfast forum; Manufacturing in a Low Carbon Economy, took place on 13 May 2010 at the Hemisphere conference centre in Moorabbin and was hosted by Rob Gell. This successful event highlighted the importance of change in the manufacturing sector and showcased examples of leading manufacturers already considering sustainability to be part of everyday business. The forum also demonstrated the level of support available to businesses.
The opening presentation by Rob Gell gave a sobering reminder of why we have to change the way we do business; Jürgen Schneider’s (Siemens) visionary snapshot gave us hope for the future; Chris Clark (Amcor) and Graeme Hewitt (The Laminex Group) provided insight into the perspective of leading manufacturers working towards improving sustainability; Claire Blewitt (EPA Victoria), Jason Walker (Ai Group) and Dianne Hood (VECCI) demonstrated just how much support is available to manufacturers that want to improve their environmental performance.
